VUKOVAR, 23.09.2019. – In the premises of Vukovar-Srijem County, a contract for carrying out construction works within the infrastructure project “Wood-technology Centre Slavonian Oak” has been signed with the company Planum-građenje d.o.o. from Vukovar.
The contract was signed by Deputy Prefect of Vukovar-Srijem County Josip Dabro, on behalf of Prefect Božo Galić, and owner of the company Planum-građenje d.o.o. from Vukovar, Đuro Bamburač.
Infrastructure Project “Wood-technology Centre Slavonian Oak” was unanimously voted by the Partnership Council of Vukovar-Srijem County as a strategic project of the Vukovar-Srijem County and as such is part of the Development Strategy of the Vukovar-Srijem County until year 2020.
After several years of preparation of technical and project documentation, the project was submitted last year to the limited Call for Proposals of Ministry of Agriculture as part of the implementation of the Development Agreement for Slavonijaa, Baranja and Srijem. Ministry of Agriculture has approved funds for the implementation of the project in the amount of HRK 24.997.781,16.
Result of the project will be the construction and installation of an innovation infrastructure facility at the location of the Entrepreneurial Zone Ambarine in the Municipality of Gradište, equipped with:
• advanced 3D technologies for new product development,
• a modern CNC prototype machine,
• wood processing machines,
• industrial quality control tools,
• a drying room,
• experimental drying room and
• biomass boiler room.
The initiator of the project is Wood Cluster Slavonian Oak, project leader is Vukovar-Srijem County, and Competence Centre d.o.o. for research and development is responsible for project implementation.
Vukovar-Srijem County – “Land of Oak”
In the Vukovar-Srijem County’s territory exist largest coherent complex of lowland pedunculate oak forests in Europe – Spačva basin, the most valuable forest resource of the Republic of Croatia with the world famous and recognized Slavonian oak. So far, there has been no innovation and research infrastructure for this valuable raw material in which research, development and innovation activities would be continuously carried out and that would transfer and create new knowledge and new technologies necessary for economic development and job creation.
The completion of the infrastructure project “Wood-technology Centre Slavonian Oak” will contribute to the smart and sustainable use of valuable forest resources in accordance with the directives and strategies of the European Union and the Republic of Croatia, in a way that will stimulate research, development and innovation activities in order to ultimately transform valuable forest raw materials into eco-products of high finalization and high added value, all with the aim of improving the business and business environment in the wood-processing sector, sustainable development and environmental protection with positive effects not only on woodworkers of infrastructure users, but also indirectly on all residents of Vukovar-Srijem County, the Republic of Croatia and the European Union.
The ceremonial signing of the contract was also attended by the head of Department of Economy and Regional Development of Vukovar-Srijem County Zrinka Čobanković, president of the Wood Cluster Slavonian Oak Josip Faletar PhD, Deputy Chairman of the Wood Cluster Slavonian Oak Mijo Ćošković and Director of the Competence Centre for research and development Ivan Ambroš PhD.
