Prefect Božo Galić received, in inaugural visit in Vukovar on 27th of August 2020, the Ambassador of Japan in the Republic of Croatia, her Excellency Misako Kaji. During the occasion prefect Božo Galić informed the ambassador about the current political, economic and cultural situation in the county, and they discussed about the possibilities of further collaboration.
During the occasion prefect once again thanked the Japanese Embassy for all assistance that they provided in the post-war period, especially in the field of demining in our county. Also, prefect emphasized that Vukovar-Srijem County has great development potential, because the area is suitable for agriculture, wood industry and rural tourism and it was agreed to continue to intensify friendly relations with Japan in these areas.
Japanese Ambassador Kaji, expressed interest in deepening friendly relations and emphasized their orientation on student exchange and collaboration in the field of culture.
The meeting ended with mutual conclusion that further joint contacts will endeavour to expand collaboration, especially in the field of economy with an emphasis on agriculture, culture, tourism and sports, but also in other segments.
With prefect Galić, the meetings were attended by the director of the Competence Centre Ltd., PhD Ivan Ambroš, Deputy of Director of Agro-cluster Željko Cirba and Senior Advisor – Specialist for International Cooperation and EU Affairs Krunoslav Srpak. Accompanied by Ambassador Kaji, the reception was attended by Third Secretary Yutaro Nishida and Embassy Associate Tomislav Mikuljan.
